Boutique Bows

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and has a safe night tonight ringing in the New Year! Yay...2012!! I just thought that I would post some pictures of what I have been working on the last couple of days.

I have always thought that these little boutique hair bows were so cute, but never took the time to sit down and try to make one. But I finally did and I am totally hooked!!! I would like to thank Hair Hardware for their great tutorials, that finally gave me the push I needed to give it a try!!

Merry Christmas!

Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to check in and say hello. I hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas, not only getting what you all wished for but getting to spend some great quality time with those you love! I had a wonderful Christmas with my mother, father, grandmother, fiance and my doggie Zoey! We all were very spoiled this year! I wanted to let you all know that I should be back to my blog on a more frequent basis after New Years...especially since I received a pocket camcorder for Christmas, which yes you guessed it I will be filming tutorials! Well I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year and if I don't talk to you before then, I will see you next year!! :)

Fabric covered Christmas Ornament!

Good morning everyone!
I know that it has been a while since I have shared anything creative and crafty with you, but that is going to change TODAY!! I have really been in the Christmas mood lately with Christmas music playing and putting up the tree and decorating it with my fiance and making Christmas candies with my family, so I decided why not make some homemade ornaments! Every year I make some homemade ornaments to hang on our tree, last year I wasn't able to because we were moving into our new home, so this year I was so happy that I had time to. This particular ornament was inspired by Alyx from Ornament Designs. I stumbled upon her website a few weeks back and was amazed at her talent and the beautiful ornaments she creates. I decided to give a simpler design a try and loved the way mine came out. Mine is no where near as ornate as her beautiful pieces, but I love it.

Similar to Alyx's original ornament, I used a black silk satin type fabric and then added a teal colored lace fabric as an over lay to three of the segments. I then just used teal colored sequins that matched the fabric. The ribbon used was just some basic black satin ribbon from the craft store. Lastly for the top and bottom of the ornament, I decided to make it a bit more fancy by using bouquet/boutonniere pins that already have a pearl like detail to the tops and added swarovski crystals to it and then inserted them into the top and bottom of the ornament. I love how it turned out!!
I have made three of these ornaments so far, one to hang on my own tree, one for my mom to give at an ornament swap at work and the other I am going to be selling on my Etsy Shop: Sara's Sweet Creations

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

To pocket cam or not to pocket cam??

Hello everyone, I hope your doing well tonight! I don't have a craft post tonight :( Instead, I have a question for all of you. I have been debating on whether or not to start making video tutorials of some of my crafts. What do you think? If I do decide to give it a try, I am going to have to look into purchasing a pocket cam and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should get/look into? I am on a fairly tight budget but am open to any suggestions or if anyone is selling one, please let me know! I would really really appreciate it! I hope you all have a wonderful night!

I'm back!!

Hello everyone, I am so sorry that I have been absent for so long, life has certainly had its ups and downs lately. But good news...I'M BACK!! Some announcements to be made is that 1) I'm ENGAGED!! I am so happy! My fiance asked me to marry him on August 5th which was our 3 year anniversary. The wedding is planned for Oct. 12, 2012. I can't believe that in a little less than a year I will be marrying my best friend! I am so lucky and blessed to have him in my life and I love him with all my heart!! (Speaking of planning for a wedding, no surprise I will be making my own wedding invitations and other things for my wedding, so I will make sure to post pictures!) 2) I have opened an ETSY shop, so please please go visit my shop and like it on Facebook! Right now there isn't much in my shop, but should be growing in the near future!
I think that should do it for now. I also just wanted to say thank you to the followers that I currently have for hanging in there with me during this stretch of time off and I would also like to invite people to become followers if you aren't already. Not only did I create a blog to share my handmade creations, but I also created it to meet new people and gain new friendships, so please become a follower and introduce yourself, I look forward to meeting you!! :)

Birthday cards for a man!

So this was the original card I made to give to my dad for his birthday, however I bought the new Cuttlebug today and I was so excited to use it that I had to make a new card for my dad!! What do you think?

My dad's original birthday card

The cuttlebug-ed birthday card

For the metal looking diamond plating I actually just used aluminum foil that was folded up several time so that  it would hold its embossing a bit better. for the label I used the playtime cartridge and the black lines is black twine. I think it came out pretty good! I hope he will like it :)

Isn't it absolutely ADORABLE???!!!

These are little cookies I made to give as gifts to guests at his birthday dinner.

I absolutely love, love, love these little cookies and I can't wait to see the look on his face when I bring them to dinner on Thursday!!

**I'm also considering selling these as well, what do you think?

Fabric "magic wallets"

Hey everybody, just wanted to take a minute to share with you my fabric "magic wallets". This isn't the first time I have made these, but these are just a couple I made the other day. These make great birthday, Christmas or anytime gifts. They really are fun and will leave you wondering just how they work. I love watching people try to figure out how they are made or how they work.

**On a side note, I have decided to sell some of my homemade products, including these adorable "magic wallets", and to celebrate this new business venture I'm considering doing a giveaway of one of these cute little wallets, but I would like to see if anyone would be interested in winning one? So leave me a comment, and please please please become a follower!! :)
